Front camera is not working.

I recently bought the Xperia m4 aqua dual as I was pretty impressed by its stats on paper but there are a few issues that have to be solved. Firstly I cant use my front camera. There is no icon for the front camera even in the camera application and also in other apps like retrica. I tried clearing the data but it wasnt effective enough. It would be really helpful if you could Solve this as soon as possible.

Hi Myk1, welcome to the community!

That is strange, have you gone into the Settings > Apps > All > tapped Camera > tapped Clear data > rebooted the phone & checked again?

So if you´ve just tried clearing the data, I suggest you to first run a backup of the device information: How to backup?

Then perform a system repair using PC Companion. This will factory reset your phone and erase all data. You might need to
charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Make sure the device is not connected
to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3
times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device). Start PC
Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen
instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the
repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC
Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP.

hi, I have the Xperia M4 and I don't know since when my frontal camera isn't working, the camera runs normally but i don't have the option to change to front camera. I have tried forcing detention, I re-instaled software and none worked out. Please help me

I have the same problem on my single sim. My front camera worked fine until the firmware update the other day. Now the icon to switch between back and front camera is missing and no re-installing software or anything brings it back. Please fix Sony!!

Same problem on single-sim M4.
Had a problem with all camera-apps - just one-second black screen and no error message at all.
Almost fixed it by clearing all data and de- and reactivation of this apps.
BUT it didn't fix front camera. I still have no icons to switch on it in camera-apps and it not working in Instagram.

Boot your device in safe mode like this:

And then test if the issue disappear or continues also in this mode. If it dissapear, there is an app that is generating the problem with your camera.

Restart in safe mode was a good idea.

Front camera is working now.

I did nothing exept reboot. But it fixed a problem.

Hello!

I bought my m4 last week and everything was normal until this morning when i tried to use the camera and the app didn´t work, so i decided to reset the mobile. After doing this, the camera app works as usual but when i looked for the front camera i discovered that the icon had just disappear.

I' ve tried everything, reseting the mobile again, clearing all the data of the app, starting the mobile in safe mode, and nothing happened. I also tried with others apps, like instagram or twitter, but it isn't work.

Please, could you help me?

Try Factory Data Reset it may solve your problem

Note- please backup your all data including Contacts, sms, pictures etc it may delete all data of your phone.

1. Go to settings

2. Then under settings select Backup & reset

3. under Backup & reset select Factory Data Reset then reset phone.

I've already done that reseting thing and the problem still there, I don´t know what else I can do, I just want my front camera back...

I am having same issue and I have done a factory reset, cleared data in camera app and this helps for about a day and then the issue happens again... I cannot keep resetting my entire phone weekly and everyone else is having the same issue. Can someone please help me fix WITHOUT having to remove all my data? The last one didnt let me restore and I have to start from scratch which on a work mobile can be very tedious.
