Each time I open up the phone it informs me that I have used 85% of file memory and must transfer files to the SD card. I go to Settings> Storage and when I press on 'transfer' nothing happens. The same if I set up to auto transfer - nothing happens.

It seems that there is a piece of ribbon in SD port. Does this affect the transfer process? Feels like a dopey question, but I'm hoping the answer is "remove that ribbon, you fool!". If the answer, is "whatever you do, don't remove the ribbon", I need to hear that, too! Thanks in anticipation, David

Hi @DavidN,

I think the ribbon your are referring to is the IMEI label. This does not have any effect on your SD card and should not be removed under any circumstances.

If you are able to press the transfer button it seems like your device is reading your SD card correctly. When you go to the transfer menu, (Settings > Storage > Transfer data to SD card) does it say there is anything to transfer or does it say 0 under each topic?

If it says 0 I'm afraid there is nothing that is on your internal storage that can be transferred to your SD card.

Thanks Emil for your great advice. All good. I'll just have learn to ignore the "85% full - transfer files to SD card" messages. D

I am having kinda the same problem. The "Transfer Data To SD Card" function shows 3 apps it wants to transfer and lets me click the button to do it but comes up with an error. It also let me transfer apps to the memory card before I did a factory reset and cleared the phone. It doesn't tell me what apps or why it is not working.

If it does list a number of available apps to transfer but comes up with an error when hitting the transfer button why is this?

I have just tried to transfer apps individually from the app menu instead of the storage menu and it gives me an error saying insufficient storage. This is a freshly formatted 16gb SD card with on it, it has plenty space. What gives?
