topic OTG compatibility in Android 6.0 in M Series

M4 Aqua OTG (USB Host) Functionality

I am a fan of SONY and I know that most mobile phones of sony has usb host (otg) functionality

I am waiting for the M4 aqua dual (LTE) to be my next phone. but i have a question. is this phone has otg support?

in the backup and restore section of the manual of the M4 Aqua has written that :
"With this application you can back up the following types of data to an SD card or to an external USB storage device that you have connected by the USB Host adapter to your device"

but if you watch this video, it says that it has not otg functionality

so, is this phone support otg or not? please explain completely.

if you have a retail one, can you test it and let me know?

I saw all of these comments, some say it has, sony says it has in the manual but video and specs are say it has not
i am confused

need a retail one to test, but it has not released here, yet

I was waiting for this device since March 2015.

Dual SIM is available in India. I checked up with a retail unit & NO.... it does not support OTG.

I am disappointed. Sony's white paper lists USB Mass Storage but NO, it does not support OTG.

so don't just say has not otg. explain how did you test it? if you can, upload a video

as I can confirm from most reviews, there is no otg support in this phone by now.

hence, i have another question,

as all of new xperia phones support otg, is it possible that it will be supported by a software update and problem will be fixed ?

Hi.

I'm owner of a new M4 and unfortunaly it doesn't have OTG.

I have read the same words, that it said that M4 have OTG but Sony trick us.

I hope next upgrade will fix that...next upgrade if phone have memory for that. Because my phone it's a 8 gb phone and only have frre for user 1,2 gb....shame on you sony...

More accurate camera focus, especially when doing Macro with Superior Auto
USB OTG Support!
Get rid the pre-installed App, since my Xperia M4 is 8 GB version -> I'm not buying it, it's a gift for my birthday.
Less heat, due Snapdragon 615 issue. I don't care if have to throttle down the SoC clock speed.

Same problem I am facing. I tried many time taking helps of the videos available online but it doesn't have OTG or USB connectivity support.

Hello everyone,

I'd add for the future update:
- Less battery drain as I have to charge it every day. When taking lots of pictures the battery lasts only 8 hours whereas my Xperia m2 was lasting much more.
- Dualshock support

I got my m4 last weekend,see still no otg function,just doesnt read anything that i plug in on the otg cable,is there an update yet or cant they fix this with an update.
