Rooting Ics with locked Bootloader(sk17i)

Hi guys,

I am happy with ICS update.Its good actually.Can u guyz please tell me how to root ICS on mini pro i dont wish to unlock bootloader.

Nabeel can u post 4.0.3 firmware link for mini pro and can u plz tell me how to flash only the kernel from 4.0.4 using flash tool??

Both of you use kernel for Neo or Neo V

4.0.3 was not released for mini pro

and the method to flash 4.0.4 kernel is same as that of 4.0.3

And remember : rooting and flashin would void your warranty and you are doing it at your own risk

Thanks dude. i have a doubt.i havealready updated my mini pro to ics using sus.Should i again install ics rom using flash tool and repair it using sus?

Oh my, you don'y have to install whole rom using flashtool but just the kernel...

i would suggest you to rather wait for sometime till a developer finds a way to root 4.0.4 directly

What say ?

Maybe you need to wait for just few days...

The thing is arc ., arc s, neo , neo v, ray are quite easier to root as they got the 4.0.3 update and 4.0.3 is possible to root, so by flashing kernel and then rooting works

But all other mobiles did not get 4.0.3 and hence they don'y have 4.0.3 kernel unlike arc, neov etc.....

So the method of changing kernels worked for some but not for all ....

ya i think i have to wait .If i repair(re install) my phone using sus ,will i lose the root??

if you repair your phone with either SUS or PCC you will lose rooting

Thanks, worked well with the Neo kernel. Just a note to anyone else - that kernel won't actually boot properly (screen will be blank or will have a red LED and bright white back button LED). Don't worry, the rooting toolkit still works fine - run it and try. After rooting and flashing back the 4.0.4 kernel it all sorts itself out.

(Make sure you have the drivers from flashtool installed and prior to flashing the 4.0.3 kernel set USB debugging and allow arbitrary apps)

Strange. When I tryied Neo kernel it says Debuging is off even if it was on with genuine kernel. Still no root. I dont want to setup all things again.

Before flashing should i mark or unmark 'exclude TA(simlock.ta)' .I excluded everything except 'kernel'. I used neo v rom to flash sk17i kernel and i couldn't flash the kernel.

Hold on for sometime, i will directly link the kernels to flash,

maybe after 1-2 days...

kernels for arc and arc s are ready, willl do that for others as well

Need to download every firmware and then disect it
