How in the world can I root it ?

I tried before coming here... MAN HAVE I TRIED but I couldn't be able to root the sony xperia s running firmware 67 because the link to the prerooted firmware is "404 NOT FOUND" you guyz claim 2 be the most helpful and caring of them all>>>>>>>>>>>> HELP ME ROOT MY XPS !!!!

you can only root if you unlock your bootloader, at least that's the only option right now

hay man ur awesom!!! but if u wanna be given the correct answer ! plz explain this for me :

"Boot into recovery -> Flash SuperSU from "SDcard" (be sure to copy over before you go into recovery! Recovery is broken a little, so its safer to copy file over before!

also, what is a mirror and if it's what i think it it wich one is the best.... i know how to flash the system using flash tool and to use the fast boot comand but i dont know how to flash a recovery and boot into it and how to flash the supersu from recovery mod... can u help some more plz ?

I have a pre rooted system img for 4.0.4 ICS

All you need to do is run fastboot enter the command prompt and type in the command

Once done your ICS will be rooted

flash the ICS image (tft) with flashtool over the device. then you have to copy the recovery files mentioned in the thread into the fastboot directory and the superuser ZIP onto the device. open a command prompt, go to the directory fastboot (and the other files) are located and use the commands.

after flashing the recovery mode you can install the superuser-zip with recovery mode ("install zip from sdcard"). after that, open the ICS tft with winzip or winrar and extract the kernel file. copy this file into the fastboot directory and again execute the flash command for the kernel.

done I did it and I am not really an experienced user in flashing sony devices.... just make sure you have all the files downloaded (there are three: ICS tft, SU zip and recovery) and working flashtool with drivers installed.

yes but what if when i flash the ics prerooted or the recovery it comes back with a message saying "your device must be rooted" or such !!!!! isn't that just crazy

i type the command flashboot flash.... and it says u have to have root in order to root !!!!!!????

Hay man for all i know... it is !
i followed a youtube video and at the end the command prompt confirmed my unlock.
BUT,and Sony should pay attention, after i googled the very error message... I foun that this problem is 1) limited to sony and sonyerricson phones (coz no one else had the problem)
2) it's a result of the complication of the unlock the bootloader page on sony mobiel. it was so complecated mainly because this is my first android phone and the one before it was a nokia !
But realy i'm i the villain or the victim here?? i'm doing it all again. but there is some sloppy explanation here!!!!!!! i got completely lost on several occasions lilke when they said to open a command window in the tools directory.... the first time i just opend and typed and typed and nothing happend!! now that i know that the command window should be opend where the fastboot.exe is (WICH IS THE PLATFORM TOOLS DIRECTORY) it worked ! don't get me wrong it worked the first time with the youtube video too but the video didn't say to download a file called android_winusb.inf wich will as i understood inable sony phones to support fastboot better! i still don't know if the problem is fixed or not but if it is I blame Sony for not tacking the time to put together a better explanation.
DEAR SONY HELP US BETTER PLZ !!!!!!!
maybe you could throw in some pictures in the explanation or a video on xperia youtube chanel !
After all it was you who led me to seek help elseware !!!!!

To check if your bootloader is unlocked dial as if you were dialing a phone number

*#*#7378423#*#* Then click on service info then click on config at the bottom it will say bootloader unlocked - Yes

If it says anything else then it's no unlocked it may say Bootloader unlock allowed - yes then it can be unlocked if it says Bootloader unlock allowed - no then it can't be unlocked

So, you mean you do things you dont's have an idea from and you do things Sony is not responsible to and you do things on your own personal risk with your handy which can be bricked this way and then you blame Sony?!

In every manual for rooting and on Sony page there is written: if you do not know what you are doing: don't do it!

how was i suppose to learn about my phone if sony didn't teach me how to make full advantage of it.....rooting should be for every one not just for geeks like u !
and i just rooted !!! it worked !!!
