I guess he means that the SIM (not CIM ) card is causing the problems. If the phone loses the connection to the SIM-card the phone will restart. There seems to be a glitch with your home cut microSIM. Try contacting your operator and ask them for a new microSIM.

I have exactly the same problem onmy Xperia S (2 months old). It keeps on rebooting. I still haven't got back the unit since it is still with the service center, will let you all know if the same problem occurs after they say that the board has been replaced. Question though, with the board replaced, should my phone have a new IMEI number??

Anyway, if you all are experiencing this problem. Here is what I observed from my auto reboot case:

- With SIM card inside, it reboots automatically, at certain intervals with or without running installed apps.

- I attempted a software fix from the PC Companion, meaning it also uninstalled all the other previously installed programs from PLAY Store, but I still get the same problem.

- Without SIM card, it seems to work just fine.

- With SIM card, but on AIRPLANE mode, it works just fine (now who wants to use a phone on AIRPLANE mode???????)

- With SIM card inside, set your Mobile Network to GSM only, mine worked fine. However, if its set to WCDMA preferred/GSM (which is by default, the factory setting), the reboot problem occurs. Now again, who wants to use a phone that can't access a faster network provided by your phone company?????

- I had it serviced in the authorized service center for a complete reinstall, but I still get the same problems and same scenarios described above.

Do note that I had already requested a new SIM card, and used it on the phone, before I had it checked in at the service center thinking that it was my SIM card that was causing the problem. Apparently NOT!

So now, they had it returned to the main service center for further checkup, with board replaced as per followup. Will get back on this thread to update if the same problem occurs.

Let us keep this thread alive so that people may be aware.

If you think it's ICS then officially Sony will not downgrade you despite what Sony support here might say - The only option you have to downgrade back to GB is to do it manually,

If you would like to consider this then which GB firmware would you need and if I have it or can get it I will post a download link for you along with details on how to downgrade - It's an easy process but if you don't feel upto it then I can remote network and do this for you

Accept my thanks for that.

but, don't you think it's a shame when there is a newer version of your phone's OS is availble and you can't use it, due to some uknown issues?

Does it matter having a CUT sim or a MICRO sim in the first place? mine was CUT. Both old and new SIM from carrier. The old sim was working fine until I encountered the problem. I have an Xperia S. I am not going to accept that its a carrier problem since it was working fine. Maybe an ICS issue after the updates of some of the apps related to ICS by SONY.

I got the phone with the new board in from the service center. What is weird is that its only happening in a particular area near my home. So now its back with the service center. I'd try to upload the videos I got today. It is restarting even when I rebooted the phone to SAFE mode!

Just an update to my post here => http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/271216#271216

so I got my unit this morning. with new board in place. first thing I did was test the unit before completely signing the release form. It was working fine. So while I was there, I tried to browsed some apps, played with its functionality and so on. PLAY Store indicated 10 updates found for all the default apps (I should have made a screen shot but forgot to do it). So I updated them all while I was still there at the service center. It was working fine so I signed up the release papers.

I then reinstalled Reboot Logger from PLAY Store (just so I will have a log in case it would reboot without me having observed it while I was in their area). I stayed around for 2 hours and nothing was wrong so I decided to go home.

Before I got home, it started to reboot again. Like you could not imagine right? So the first thing I did was to video it all using my other unit.

As stated in my previous post, having my Network option to GSM this time did not solve the reboot issue. So I restarted the phone on SAFE mode. But still the reboot occured

I will upload my videos in youtube later.
