Personal Ringtones and Text alert tone

There is probably a simple answer but I am unable to find it. I have downloaded some ringtones which I want to use as 'personal contact' tones, another for my 'text message alert' tone. It was easy on my old Xpreia just by 'use as contact' These tones have downloaded to Walkman. Question, how do I now assign each to a contact in my address book. Thanks

go to your contacts -> click on the contact that you want to assign a ringtone (ex. your father) -> in the right top corner you have a head+body with a pencil (means editing) -> on the bottom of the editing list you can choose a ringone

Thanks pesky, I have found the pre loaded tones but unable to locate those I downloaded which are stored in Walkman, thanks for your help ...Des

Contact >> Edit >> Ringtone >> Sound Picker (Just Once) >> Octave (top right)

or for all messages

Messages >> Menu 3 dots >> Settings >> Notification Tone >> Sound Picker (Just Once) >> Octave (top right)

If not there, you may have selected Media Storage and *Always* in the past, then you need to do this first.

Settings >> Apps >> Menu 3 dots >> Reset App Preferences

Then go back and try again.

Hello Des,

If you want a particular song for a particular contact which is not in the default song list, you have to copy it.

you have two options : either copy the mp3 or ogg (preferably convert your mp3 to ogg because it occupies less spacce) to /system/media/audio/ringtones and then restart the phone

either make on the sdcard a new folder:(sdcard)/notifications/media/audio/ringtones and paste it here and restart the phone.

if you use the second option, walkman app will have duplicated tracks. better use the first method.

ps: if the 2nd option is not working, try with :(sdcard)/media/audio/ringtones

post here your result.
