There are myriad possible reasons

Dropped phone could cause the digitizer to crack, it could loose up some ribbons, it could be a faulty digitizer, it oculd be a motherboard issue, water damage issue, or it could be something simple as an app acting up or an extra protective film or protective case.

if you have an issue with your digitizer, repair your phone with SUS or PCC then test it again

All Xperias have capacitive digitizer, the difference is the quality, size and how many fingers it can detect (at the same time)

Xperia SP's digitizer can detect up to 10fingers

Live w/ Walkman u to 4 fingers
