Just install it and test it, although, it will be easier just to have an SmartTag at your office, another at home, that way you can turn on/off certain features w/o an app draining your battery as this app will rely on GPS location

Yes, GPS is said to drain battery but to my experience, compared with the screen, the batterty drain from the GPS is negliable.

I use a GPS app ("Norgeskart", for Norway only) that turns the phone into a full-feature GPS with all available official Norwegian maps at hand for free - five databases X 2 I think (vector and rasterized), from 1:1000 - 1:250000), as long as I've a data connection - an can download on beforehand if going far into the wilderness. No problem tracking a couple of days if I don't use the phone much (and turns off Wifi & mobile data) but as soon I start looking at the map onscreen, the battery runs fast down. So i use the phone to keep track of my route, and to confirm my location if i get lost on the paper map.

Thanx for reminder - the Smart Tags have been left unpacked...

Llama does not use GPS for positioning, it uses mobile phone masts so there is no battery drain at all. I have used it on all my phones for the last three years.

I have defined areas for home and work, when I enter the area of my home mobile phone mast(s) it starts polling wifi in 5 minutes intervals, and when it sees my home wifi then it starts controlling the volume depending on the time of the day. And when I'm at work an have a meeting the volume is muted (but only when I'm at work). Very useful tool for automation, using NFC-tags is so much more manual work (remember to unlock phone and scan NFC-tag whe you get home versus just get home).

Llama can (!) use GPS for location, but normally it´s deactivated. You can enable it in "Settings - test laboratory". This will reduce the akkupower......

Greetings

Gert
