Unable to send sms through x10 mini pro

Hello friends.

My x10 mini pro is was working just fine until 3 days ago. But all of a sudden, it wasn't letting me send sms anymore. I still am able to receive sms though. Its just the problem with sending sms.

Whenever i try to send an sms, it shows 'sending' for like 4 seconds and then shows 'could not send'.

Been having this issue since 3 days and it still persists.

Let me tell you what all i have done. (Except for restarting the phone a million times)

1. Network tower issue: To check if the issue was with the tower, i moved a good 30 miles away to another tower and it still had the issue. Plus, my other friends living just next door are able to send and receive sms through the same network operator.

2. Phone software issue: To check if it was an issue with the phone, i flashed my phone with the pc companion and installed a fresh copy of android 2.1. But the problem persists.

3. Sim: I removed and re-inserted the sim card a few times just to make sure the contact was proper with the chip. And it was properly connected.

Now, the only thing thats left in my mind is if my operator changed the message centre number of the network.

But then, there's no way of changing or editing the message centre number in android 2.1.

It used to be in Home screen > Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks > SMS centre in 1.6.

But unfortunately, it aint there anymore in 2.1.

If anyone could PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out with how to edit/reset the message centre number it'd be of great help.

Also, any other tentative issues that could be causing the problem that you might know of. Please let me know. I am a travelling guy and most of the contact i make with my world is through sms.

Hi,

From what you have described, it definately sounds like an error in the SMS centre number. You can change this by following the below steps:

1. Open your dialler and dial: *#*#4636#*#*.

2. From the menus which appear, select Phone Information.

3. Scroll down to SMSC.

4. Enter the SMS centre number given by your provider in this box.

5. Select Update.

This will then change the number and hopefully resolve the issues you are experiencing. Let me know how you get on.

I have a Xperia X8 and same issue cannot send SMS......

Tried saving the SMSC number from *#*#4636#*#*, Gives a error "Update Error"

-->Tried rest the phone back to factory settings but still No Go......

Any thing i m missing to be tried out????

I have a Vodaphone IN connection

Did you try calling the carrier customer care?

That actually worked for my friend. He called the cust care up and explained the problem and asked for his sms account to be refreshed/reset from their side.

And a reboot later he was able to get messaging back on his phone.

Try it and lemme know if it works.

Dude i tried calling them several times.....

Vodaphone says phone issue...

Sony Ericsson says its Vodaphone issue......

No Fixes yet.......

Thanks for getting this to the notice any one else having dis kinda issue plz report...

Cant figure out what xcatly the problem is phone or the serviceprovider....

My sim works in different phone

and other sim works in ths phone.

The phone is real gr8 i just love it n its a status mark as well but wats the use if it doesnt work

If you guys can't get it to work by settings the SMSC manually according to Aimee's instructions, I think you would have to test another SIM card in the phone.

I got same problem as you i had T-mobile prepaid and now i got Ben for 10 euro in the month and i cant sms.. and also gives update error when i try to change the smsc number and when i look at phone information it says on top your recent provider is T-mobile.... I got Ben Sim in it and i reset to factory settings still no go for me too.. can someone help me how to change the Recent Network provider..?

I tried to solve my problem (*#*#4636#*3* ) but no luck. Does anyone find out a way to fix this problem? I have tried another SIM cards also

By the way when I tap Setttings- About Phone-Status- My phone number looks "Unkown" Is that a problem?

Thank you for fast response. Yes I called Network Operator help desk and I have tried different Network Operator SIM cards. But I can not find SMS message center number and can not send text message.

When you keyed in *#*#4636#*#* to access Phone Information, what did you see in the SMSC field? blank?

When I tap *#*#4636#*#* the SMSC is blank and I wrote network operator SMS message center number and tap Update and after that tap refresh . SMS message center automatically displayed and I checked again now. The SMSC is blank..

Ok, confirm that it is the correct SMS message center number.

Do the process again, after tapping refresh, doublecheck the numbers again. Reboot phone and try sending sms.
