Hello, is there any chance that SC has a program that runs on linux?

It s insane, that the only way possible to update a linux kernel phone is through windows! :S

Please do not propose the use of wine, or any virtual box.

I just need to get it updated, with a really simple task, just like in windows... click click click updated!

I think linux users should be able to update their phones, without setting up a vm or even using an emulator!

Does SC has any plans to write a program for linux?

I am sorry to say but we you will need to use a virtual box or a Windows based PC to achieve this task. At this stage there are no plans for a Linux or Mac based version of the Update Service or PC Companion software.

Hi, I may have misunderstood, however, I receive "That the phone has the latest software version" (my translation into English) using my WLAN.

I have the phone connected to my WIFI (private wireless network) so I can search for updates etc.

I.e. I have access to the internet through my private network.

In lack of a WIFI router, then Linux can be setup as an access point, if the machine has a wireless network card installed + a wired connection towards the internet. (I used Ubuntu 10.04)

Best regards & good luck

This is totally unacceptable and indicates incompetence of the Sony Developers. Android is Linux based, so surely it can't be that difficult to port the PC Companion for Linux? I am using Linux because I don't want to install Windows. I don't want to waste my money to buy a licence of Windows just to support my phone. Even if I do create a VM of Windows on Linux, I still need to purchase a licence of Windows, which is contradictory to why I am using Linux in the first place. If the Sony Software Developers are incompetent, then they can ask Canonical (Ubuntu Linux) software developers to assist them. Or recruit someone into the company that can do it for them.
