How to copy/select text on emails?

Does anyone knows how to select text or copy it from emails on the X10?

I work a lot with emails but some of my contacts can only use sms so i have to keep copying info from email to sms, wich with this very high tech wonderfull phone that im having fun with, seems to be somehow

impossible?

is it me and my bad tech skills or its the phone?any help would be greatly apreciated.

i know a friend who had problems with his samsung, he says once upgraded to to 2.1 those problems were history. trust me i am suffering copy and paste

you will get the 2.1 some time in the next 2 - 3 months.... just look at the other companies (samsung, motorola, and htc) SE is always behind by almost two - four updates, so if they are 2.2 then SE is not at 2.1, 2.0, 1.7, they are at 1.6. we have been waiting for 2.1 since january

Thanks for the info, i,ve been looking for answers in the net but still havent found anything on this, i was beggining to feel i was the only only to complain...how could something so simple be ignored intop brand mobile?

The trick is to tap and hold the message you want to copy, if I understand your question correctly. I have never tried this before now, but have just been playing ewith my phone to try it out...

When composing an email, press and hold the screen; a number of options will pop up, including Copy all. If you choose this, it will copy the body of the message, which you can then paste in to a text message or another email - go to the text input box of the message in which you wish to paste it, press and hold until the options comes up, and select paste. The text will then appear in the SMS and can be sent in the usual way.

If you wish to copy only a section of the email, choose Select text instead of Copy all. This seems to be a bit awkward, but drag your finger over the text you wish to copy. When you have selected what you wish to paste in to a SMS (or another email), press and hold the screen and select Copy. The bit you've copied can then be pasted in to another message, in the same way as i have described above.

I hope that this makes some sort of sense, and that it helps.

Thanks for the input sushidushi, but the problem is when i press and hold the scren when in the email(open email and start reading it), no option appears (no Select Text nor Copy all).These options appear only in a sms or the internet browser.

I have just had another look at mine. It seems that the option to select and copy text only appears with a message that you are currently composing, and not on something that has already been sent. I had hoped, for your sake, that it would be possible to edit a message before forwarding it, as you would probably then be able to select the message you were editing (or part thereof), but that doesn't seem to be possible, from what I can see so far.

Sorry I have been unable to help much at all, but I suppose your message has at least been bounced to the top of the screen, where someone else might see it...

Thanks to Sushidishi for making my mind start along this vein....

This has got to be the most backwards, inefficient way to do this, but if you have an email I think I have found a way to copy text from it.....

First select to forward it via the menu key

Then once the forward screen has come up, use the menu key again to save as draft.

Then access the draft from your main email menu and guess what LONG PRESS WORKS!!!!! So you can then select your text and once its on you clipboard I pressume you can put it anywhere. I shoved it on to one note just to see if it were possible.

Thanks for your suggestion suze and it does work altough it it is the "most backwards, inefficient way" and i might add bordeline stupid from the part of the programming guys at SE. it will solve the issue that i was having.Again brilliant idea from you to chosse this direction it never crossed my mind to do this!Again thanks!

Ah, good thinking, Suze. It seems that one can only copy from a 'live' message. It does seem a bit cumbersome, but it would seem to be the only way, unless one wishes to copy one's own message and copies it whilst drafting it...
