Ok...I've been reading ALL threads about it and I just can't understand how ANYBODY from Sony could solve this (which appears to be a problem not only for the neo v phone, but for other models too)

Sorry if this is yet another topic complaining about the front face camera but I have to give it a try

What I've tried so far:

unmount the sd card. Still the icon through SCN Auto -> Front Camera won't appear

updated to ICS but honestly, I did have this problem BEFORE the update (I just used the front camera once when I just buyed my phone in april 2012. A month ago I tried again...I thought I just forgoted where the icon was. Not a biggie, I thought)

Repaired through PC Companion, still have the front camera missing

Services test says my phone doesn't support the secondary camera function

Honestly I don't remember if at any time the PC Companion updated my phone, before I did the ICS update. What I can say is that I'm not able to switch to front face camera before the ICS, so it is not a ICS problem...but I don't know either what could it be

I really love my Sony cellphones. I was very happy to say my xperia could do everything an iphone can (front face camera included) but now I'm dissappointed =/

Thanks a lot for your responses

First of all: I had a problem with my account haha sorry for creating another one

Thanks for your attetion Johan but I'm afraid what you said is for no use to me.

Through this days I've been reading about the most common problems with the ICS update, such as the front camera problem and the LED notification when the screen is off. I'm 100% sure my problem is not a hardware problem but software problem. In some other threads you suggest either factory reset or repair the ICS through the update service...and according to their responses, in some few cases this solves the problem, in others not and you both lost your time and your phone data. Very dissappointig.

I discovered that sometimes when I remove the SD, turn off the phone, turn it on again without the sd the front camera icon appears and everything works just fine (even the service test works, not showing the "this function is not supported" message). Some other times, the icon does appear BUT the front camera never starts and the service test shows a black screen. And finally, sometimes the icon just don't appear and the service test says the function is not supported. Three different escenarios with the same phone.

Now I can conclude the front camera works with ICS update, but I just don't get why does it work when ICS is on mood...So, I don't really know now if I should blame Android or Sony. Guess I should blame android because it looks like a bug. What I don't really like about your support is that you are the experts and you just can't give a propper fix to it. You are not 100% sure what is happening with ICS update and what would fix it for sure (I say this based on all the similiar threads and users saying your solution doesn't work for them). What can I expect if I go to a repair center?

As I said before, I really like Sony's cellphones (xperia neo v is my third sony cellphone, but my first smartphone) and thats the reason why I'm so anoyed about this situation. I'm not glad at all with the support.

Again, thanks a lot for your response :smileyhappy:. Hope this helps to get a straight forward solution from Sony (...and Android)

all of a sudden my front camera option/icon dissappeared. I tried device service check and it says "this device dont support secondary camera" I took to a near by service centre. They said they will upgrade the phone and check. But I already had android 4 (icecream sandwich) which they changed to android 2 (gingerbird) and said nothing could be done and changed service charge.
