Xperia Acro S - Proximity Sensor not working

Dear All

After updating my Acro S from ICS to JB the proximity sensor stopped to work.

I've already tested with *#*#7378423#*#* and it shows always off in JB. When it was in ICS it was working well...

Any suggestions to fix it?

What do you mean by does not work?When you are in a call,does it turn off your screen while covered or the screen stays on?

Exactly like this... during a call the screen is still on and I touch everything with the face

Have you tried covering the sensor with your hand to see if the screen goes off?

Yes... already tried but doesn't turn off, it is always on.

Also checked with the code 7378423 and it always shows "proximity sensor off"

Then it is not right.I am aware you may not want to do it,but I suggest repairing phone software with Sony update service or with Pc companion.

I tried this lots of times when I updated to .200 months ago, without positive result

Even not being recommended, I flashed back to ICS to have the proximity sensor working normally... I thought this issue have been solved in .96 update

I'm not in the same country I bought my mobile... so send to assistance is not a solution for me

There were some people with Xperia P that complained about the proximity sensor(I am from Xperia P section),but I recommended repair and it was fixed.

Still negative result...I hope Sony can fix it in the next update!!

For now the only solution is power off the screen manually... it's so boring but this is the only way otherwise I will touch everything!!

Any other suggestion?

Some manual configuration, for example?

Maybe you will be able to do something if you root your phone.I am not that informed in rooting,so I advice you to search this forum for metodes of rooting.

Yes I rooted to try it, but I didn't find a tool or something that I can change or check parameters for the proximity sensor. I just found some apps to calibrate the sensor, but considering that the sensor is turned off, first I need to turn it on to calibrate it.

Do you know any software that I can change things in the sensor?

I'll also search in the forum to check if someone posted something like this, but up to now I didn't find anything similar

This is a very rare situation.Could the sensor be broken?Then you have no other option than taking the phone to a service.

Even being a rare situation, I don't think that the sensor is broken, because when I flash back to ICS the sensor works normally.

In my oppinion is just a config that is not correctly set in JB.

I would like to know about users from Acro S if they have had the same problem or not, because is seems that I'm just the only one that have this model of cellphone

Yes,if you say on ICS works well,then it is a software configuration glitch or error.Let's wait for other people to post.

So, has anyone found a cure for this yet? I had to flash back to ICS. For some reason. The sensor is still off. Anybody please.... Mine is an Xperia S
