I own an Xperia LT-30at and the same thing started to happen on my phone as well

I'm still using ANDROID 4.1.2...it seems that YouTube on my Android has been grabbing and holding the rear speaker audio hostage after trying to play a video (although headphones work fine). I noticed that the audio to my speaker wasn't working,

So I did some Googling only to walk knee deep into the usual hardware versus software finger pointing...not making much progress with the forums I decided to call it a night and get some reading done so I plugged my phone into the charger - at some point a Facebook notification (system sound) came in and revealed the speaker to be working again...relieved to have speaker phone working again, I clicked on a YouTube link and played a couple of seconds until the audio crapped out again...no rear speaker, no mp3 player, no speakerphone but I sorta think Flash on Android is the cause of this...

I did try the touch sounds setting and it did seem to bring the rear speaker sound back after turning it on and off a couple of times but I still think it's Flash audio that is the culprit here...

anyone else corroborate this?

An odd problem. Try clearing data of Media storage app: Settings--Apps--All--Media storage--Clear data. This will not delete your media files, but may delete all playlists in walkman, marked favourites, etc. So, if you need your playlists, first make a backup using Media Go. Reboot. Check if problem persists. If it persists, try clearing data of Walkman and Winamp apps at Settings--Apps--All. And this will delete all your preferences, playlists, etc. for both the apps. Reboot.

No, it wouldn't have deleted your media files. I have done this a couple of times and mine remained unharmed. Use a file manager to browse your storage and check for your media files. And I am sorry I didn't tell you before that ringtones will be reset. But, more importantly, does the speaker work now for music?

Just give some time for the walkman app, after you open it, to load all songs, it might take a few minutes. If this hadn't solved your problem, try resetting to factory settings or try a repair with Sony Update Service.

That sounds strange. Do you experience the same problem if you boot your phone into safe mode?
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008

If yes, I suggest that you perform a software repair on your unit via Update Service:
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Download and install SUS, follow the instructions that appear.

Ashwin...it was an irony that as soon as i entered service centre and checked my phone for the last time before giving it to the service it all of a sudden started working... My front and back speakers as well.....

Still then i discussed this problem with the service executive...so he told me that all 3.5mm Jacks are not similar there thickness is 3.5mm but there cuts and making is different... So only those that have been provided with the set are advised to be used as earphones....

Putting a wrong 3.5mm jack shots your phone's front, back speakers as well as your inbuilt mic....

Try restarting your phone a couple of times it might some the problem

But if it does not then take it to the service center.... There minimum time for service is 7 days...ie u have to leave your phone for 7 days....

Hahahaa!! Its funny...

It all started with my Main speaker not working for audio and video(only for call and main message notification) and audio coming through my earpiece..

3 days before my earpiece too crashed leaving me just a single option for call that too speaker output throught the main one.

Was just pissed off but thought it might get corrected automatically.. Might be some bug in the OS.

I was at my wits end yesterday and started reinstalling the OS but in vain. Tried Reset to Factory settings that too in vain.

Tried everything mentioned in the site... But no good. I lost my hope and thought of giving it to the service center today.

Today morning out of the bllue the Audio started coming through the earpiece Its funny... And now it started working perfectly

Might be the mobile is scared of going to the service center

Is it only because of 3.5mm Jack or can it also be caused because of Bluetooth Audio Speakers???

I did insert some other headphones and when I unplugged them, sound went off totally. The ringtones work but there's no sound while playing music. The other day, I inserted my headphones halfway and the sound played through the external speaker but when I withdrew them, sound went off again.
