Prolems charging SP

My SP which I've had for a few months now, has recently stopped charging properly, doesn't matter what I do, it will only charge when it wants to, I've even tried different cables, if the factory restore doesn't work, then I'll have to take it back to the store I got it on contract from.

Have you tried a software repair via sony update service?

I will try that when I can get the backup and restore app to work, think it has something to do with the micro USB port on the phone though as wiggling it in the socket makes it start charging, as does holding it in a certain position, had a similar problem with the old X8.

Use Sony pc companion or myphone explorer to backup your contacts,messages,settings etc.For the media files,it is better to manually copy them to a PC.

I've got the app for it working, it won't back anything up while it's downloading app data.

Yeah, just backing everything up onto the SD card...

Takes quite a while.

Reinstalling the firmware using update service worked as far as I can tell, thank you, now to wait for the 4.3 update.

Take your phone to closest service,they could update it there and fix your issue.

My nearest sony center is in Portsmouth 20 miles away, also I've got my phone charging now, just hope it will keep charging until I can take it somewhere for them to find the problem if it happens again.

Will do.

Unplugged it and plugged it back in, the problem is still persisting, will take it to the store I got it from to see if they can find out what's wrong with it but it's defnitely something wrong with the micro USB port on the device itself as I get the same problem with any cable I try, even if it's plugged into my pc, even data transfer is iffy.
