XPERIAZ2 LTE not supporting multiple user accounts?

So I have just spent a small fortune and received my XPERIA Z2 LTE Tablet

- and after searching high and low I have concluded that the 'multiple user account' functionality in Android has been stripped away for the LTE version of this tablet.

Which means that just about any personal service on this tablet is rendered useless.

(e-mail, calendar, youtube, bookmarks +++).

This feature is present on the non-LTE so I really hope a Sony representative can explain to me why it is not present on the LTE variant?

Will the feature be implemented in an update?

To me the decision to leave this functionality out on the most expensive tablet you're selling borders to retardation and also fundamentally annoys me.

I want a solution to this problem to, what is going on! this is stupid, where is the multiple user option in the LTE model.

As far as I can see, there is support for Multiple users in the Xperia Z1 LTE version - so why not in the Z2 version.

I just bought a Z2 Tablet - and I have spend hours trying to figure out why I could not add more users - until I found this thread.

It must be pretty easy to just open up for it - I guess the problem is that Z2 LTE things its a phone and hence do not need the multiple users.

This is a big issue for me - I have more need for multible users then the LTE - I seriously think about handing it back to the store 😕

An issue for me also. I would have thought this would be basic functionality for a top end tablet. It's an excellent device all in all, but this is somewhat agitating.

really bothered by this as well.. quite bummed considering the price gap and ending up losing a function.

Had I known before purchase I might have opted for the wi-fi version.

Thanks for pointing this out. Actually this prevents me currently from buying a Z2 LTE...

The multiple user functionality is a must-have feature for me.

It is difficult to see this as anything other than really bad customer service...

In the "what would you like to know about your tablet"-thread there have been no replies for ages either.

Is there anyone running this forum / are anyone from Sony present in here at all?

It is a very simple question and the lack of this feature is pretty serious flaw in my book.

Hi all,

I'm sorry for the late reply.
The design of SGP521 is based on phone software. Therefore there is no user account functionality available in SGP521, like in SGP512 and SGP511.

But isn't the Z2 Tablet a Tablet with Phone capabilities and not an Xtra large Phone. As far as I can see it is marketed as the former and thus should include the features of the tablet variant of Android. If it is indeed the latter, then you should change the marketing for the device. Users buying an android tablet expect features that the tablet version of Android provides. The Tablet Z had Multiuser for example and the Z2 is marketed as the direct successor to this device.

Thank you for finaly giving a reply.

I bought this TABLET.. not phone, with LTE so that it can still have Internet connectivity when not in range of wifi. this does not negate the fact this is a TABLET not a phone and therefore should have all the options the other 2 versions or the z2 have, namely Multiple User profiles. so when is this getting patched to be able to add user profiles? becuase this NEEDS to be patched, and soon!

This is a tablet and marketed as such.

The lack of user profiles renders large parts of the functionality useless in a multi-user scenario (shared in a household, etc). Not to mention that the Z1 LTE tablet as far as I know does have multi-user support.

Regardless, this is really not acceptable

- I am 600£ poorer having bought this device and have never even thought of the possibility of this missing.

And I can't return it as too much time has passed.

As others have stated; there better be a PATCH coming to provide this feature

- you are misleading when marketing this as a tablet.

Still checking on this topic daily and still no decent reply. I know everyone says this when there annoyed, but I follow though when I say I wont be purchasing something from a brand again. and i wont be buying anything from Sony again until i have a satisfactory solution to this problem.

Like previous posters mentioned, I'm sure 95% of the people who bought / will buy this tablet choose the LTE version for extended connectivity, not for phone usage.

I'm sure all would prefer multi-user functionality over being able to make a call.. from a tablet!

If Sony wants a product to be marketed as a large phone with phone functionality, they should do like Samsung and have a version like the Samsung Note or a 7 inch tablet.

Regardless, I think consumers need to be given the right information at the time of purchase, and if anything else a proper choice on which functions they prioritize and want enabled.

A POSSIBLE SOLUTION would be to have an option when setting up the tablet to either choose multi-user or phone-functionality, and the option that is left out to be locked until the tablet is restored to factory settings. I'm sure users will be more satisfied when given a choice instead of it being forced on them.

Very good suggestion, I would be happy to lock out the phone options on my tablet in exchange for multiple users, as long as the LTE still works through the Sim card. still very annoyed that Sony and not commented further on this yet.
