I have had a Sony Xperia T for two years with no problems at all. I have recently upgraded to the Xperia Z3 Compact and sold my T to a friend and used factory reset to wipe my data off it. He got a SIM card for it and then told me it doesn't work so I've taken the phone back and he's correct. No SIM is recognised. At first I thought it was a faulty sim card so I got a second one. Same problem (tried both sims in a cheapy Nokia, no problem). I then thought it might have been an iffy reset so used the PC Companion to 'repair' the phone. No success. Any ideas to why suddenly after two years of reliable service it decides to not recognise SIM cards? Do we need to take it in for repair?

Any advice is much appreciated.

No but it's the same network as I was on. It was an Orange/EE and we tried both and I even put in the old deactivated SIMcard but again it said 'No SIM card when before it read 'No service'.

I did that today. Ordered a brand new Orange simcard. Nothing. It's since I factory reset it. Nothing seems to work.

You might have to contact your local Xperia Care

http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/

Took it to a local repair shop and found something was wrong with the sim card reader, gold contact had worn away and needed replacing. Cost £35 and now my friend has a fully functioning Xperia T.
