I regularly experience that the charging of the phone doesn't work properly anymore (charger isn't recognized at all, phone discharges in high speed after connecting it to the charger).
What helps in most cases is to restart the phone, i.e. take out the battery and power it up again.

Very annoying, but as long as Sony doesn't fix this it's the only option I'm afraid.

Test using another charger if you have access to one or alternatively connect your phone to a Pc using the USB cable and also check that the USB isn't faulty and if you have tested all those then you need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care as you may have a faulty charging port http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
