What is the best way to perform an update of the phone, which is cleaner and safer, OTA, or via PCC with the PC?

Regards.

They are both the same but I always like to perform a clean system update by performing a system repair, The OTA update has a smaller file size but is compressed which gives the smaller file size and some phones may not have the internal storage space in which to perform a system OTA update

All it erased - So backup 1st and I wouldn't use the backup and restore app as some report issues when restoring so try to backup manually and if you have files on an SD card then these will be fine but best to be cautious and remove it
