I tried the reset as you described. After restart I tried my usb card reader and it still doesn't work. Tablet will not recognize it. Thanks for tips. I appreciate it. If you have anymore I will try. I have to be able to read sd cards with it again...

I have been using a 2.0 micro usb sd card reader for around a year to download pictures from sd card to my experia z tablet. Went on a trip and used it to download pictures from sd card, got home and now the tablet will not recognize the reader! Tablet does nothing when you plug it in! Any advice? Contacted sony and nothing.

Have you tested the reader to make sure it is working?

Yes. Even bought another one and tried it. They work on a friend of mines sony tablet. His is older than mine. Funny that it worked on evening and then wouldnt the next. When I got back home and it connected to WiFi, I did have some updates but I think they were just app updates.

The only thing I can think of however drastic is to try performing a system repair as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone

Switch off your tablet and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your tablet still switched off holding volume down - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

I don't know much about tablets but does the micro usb port require a driver? Could something have gotten erased accidentally. I do use file transfer aloe when I downloaded and deleted sd cards before. Thanks for all the input...
