Transfer application data from xperia e1 to xperia e4g

I have an xperia e1 dual and i got a new xperia e4g dual. Now i want to transfer all the data of selected applications (safepad notes, games, etc) in my e1 to the e4g. I tried the sony backup and restore application and backed up my e1 apps to an external sd, but the sony backup and restore application in the e4g cannot see and restore the backup! It seems sony has limited the functionality of the backup and restore app to work only with contacts and messages but not with applications and their data &colon;-(

I also used a third party application called "Helium" but when i backed-up safepad data from the e1 to test it, and then did a restore in the e4g the safepad application was still empty - my notes were nowhere to be found..

Does anyone know how i can do this, either with a sony application or with any other way?

P.S. I would rather not "root" my phone

On your new phone

Add your Gmail account > it should start downloading the games and app data

check under

settings > backup & reset > automatic restore.

Thanks for your reply.

My gmail account is set in both devices and they both have checked the "backup my data" and "automatic restore" checked. Nothing happens..

I also enabled "automatic sync" on the new phone and waited a 10-15 minutes. Still nothing..

Am i missing something? Any other ideas?

That's rather odd, on your former phone, check

Settings, accounts, Google, check that you are auto syncing everything

I am not auto syncing everything, just the app data. Is there any way to verify that my app data is in the cloud?

I have done a factory reset in the new phone (e4g) and it downloaded and installed all the apps i had in the older one (e1), but not the app data - just clean installs This is very frustrating!

I really liked the sony backup and restore application of the e1, where you could choose any application you wanted and it backed it up full, including the app data and save it in your external sd card. Also you didn't need any internet connection to send everything to the cloud just to transfer all the data to another device in the same room - this seems such a silly thing to do. I cannot understand why sony decided to remove this functionality from the e4g version of the backup and restore application..

Yeah but Google added new restrictions to that, which is odd is that app data, not all, but some apps and games, are stored on Google Servers now. Perhaps contact the app developers regarding this, perhaps they can help you further

After a lot of searching and trying I finally managed to get some app data transfered to my new phone using the "Helium" app. Unfortunately it didn't work for all my apps, but it's something..
