Album/Google + Sync problem

Hope someone can help

I recently got my first Sony handset and quickly synced my album app to my Google + account.

With previous handsets I have been able to then delete photos off the handset gallery (album app), while they would remain safely stored in Google +.

Unfortunately, it seems that if I delete a photo/video from the album on the phone it also deletes the same from Google +.

Is there a way to keep the auto sync feature on to ensure pics are backed up ( on Google +), but still being able to delete from phone hard-drinking to save phone space?

Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Google syncs with the Photos app not the Album app so if you delete data from the Photos app they will also be removed from your Google account. If you delete photo's from the Album app that will not remove photos synced to your Google account.
