I bought a year ago Z1, at the moment it's a fresh update to Android 5.0.2 There was a question how long Sony practical support their products and in what time frame software updates? I read somewhere that Google contracts with all producers for the fact that they are 3 years to release updates for their products and to extort them fresh rubber android. As this Sonya, how much time they support the OS update.

I don't think there's an official statement for a guaranteed software support for Sony phone, but most manufacturers (except for Nexus devices) offer 18-24 months of software support for their phone. In Sony they are still supporting Xperia Z which is 2.5 years old.

For your Z1, it;s planned for it to recieve 5.1.1 soon, so it's still supported.
