Developer option is switched off. It's a problem with Sony itself, before I could multitask with lollipop after updating to Marshmallow I am getting this multitasking issue. If u r wondering yes Marshmallow was a clean install, I formated my phone and installed Marshmallow.

I updated my Z2 to 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and I noticed the RAM management is very strict. While multitasking the background apps gets terminated when I switch back to the app after a while it restarts. Fix this it's a bug.

Here try this... Open up 5 apps Facebook, Instagram, 9gag, one football and chrome(with a website open) let's say u r browsing 9gag after like two minutes switch to Facebook, the app will restart or load everything, it will not continue from the previous state or the browser reloads the website from the beginning. Z2 having 3GB of RAM this wouldn't be an issue. Also I didn't face this in KitKat or lollipop bfr.

Same issue here, It doesn't matter what app u use... when u multitask, Sony will become a Samsung and close out background apps. Updating to Marshmallow is causing this not use if this is a Google's glitch or Sony. I hope they fixes this in bug fixes in the future.

I tried opening Modern Combat 5(online game),Instagram,Whatsapp,Chrome and refresh Gmail.

I notice that my Chrome and Instagram refreshed when i jump from those two apps to Modern Combat 5 and played for 10 mins and back to those two apps.
The Chrome refreshed the page i was reading while Instagram it just reload the picture i was watching. But nothing more than that and as far as i remember it happened for me since KitKat.

For Facebook i am not sure, because i don't use it and as far as i know,it does uses a lot of Ram.

Have you tried rebooting to Safe Mode and try using pre installed app(like Gmail,Chrome,PlayStore etc) and replicate the circumstances and see if the problem repeats.

Safe Mode(disables 3rd Party Apps)

Press and Hold Power Button > Tap and Hold POWER OFF > Tap OK to reboot to Safe Mode

To exit safe mode, just restart normally.

Well in any cases, you could perform a software repair. Which basically reinstall 6.0M

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-perform-a-software-repair/m-p/1061294#U1061294

Hope that helps.

I had noticed this problem on marshmallow too and managed to solve it. You will need root acess for this solution.

Use this app (RAM manager pro. There is a free version available on google play.)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartprojects.RAMOptimization&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dram+manager+pro+apk&pcampaignid=APPU_1_sbEgV_KzD5WQuQTb3K-gBQ

Then go into the tab named Ram and change the ram settings to ram tuner. After that using the slider below you can change how the ram is balanced between multitasking and free ram.

I set mine to 75% multitasking. And the ram management became as good as lollipop.

P.S.: Remember to select set on boot.
