You should be able to force your phone to shut down using the OFF-button next to your SIM-card, see this link to see the location of the OFF-button. While the device is turned off and disconnected from your computer you should be able to start the Software repair using Xperia Companion, not PC Companion.

Are you receiving any error messages while performing the software repair? If it doesn't help or isn't possible to complete I would recommend you contact your Local support in order to have your device sent to and examined by an authorized service centre.

Hi all,

I got a big issue with my phone.

For some time now the phone constantly showed errors telling me Google play services have stopped and it crashed and restarted on pretty much any new app I installed.

Trying to go inside Application settings to uninstall/update etc also resulted in a restart after a few seconds.

I finally decided to try a factory reset this morning and since then, the phone is constantly powering on, I see the SONY logo and then it crashes and reboots on the Android robot icon after 2 seconds. Infinite loop.

Tried all the various options to hard reset but it doesn't seem to work at all. I get no alternate menu where I can hard reset, it just tries to redo the factory reset after sony logo and then reboots again and again.

I absolutely need this to be sorted but have no idea what to do right now.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks.

Hello @Tryne and welcome to the community!

Is it the same if you boot your device without the SIM- or SD-card inserted? I'd also suggest try booting the device with the volume down button pressed in the entire time while starting up.

Should the above not help I recommend performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Hi Didrik,

Thank you for your reply.

I just tried without SD / SIM. Issue still the same.

Holding down volume DOWN while booting doesn't do anything, phone just starts as usual and goes to SONY logo, then Android bot icon and reboots and does teh same all over again.

I also tried volume UP + DOWN while booting but the phone just doesn't boot at all like that.

PC companion gives me an error when trying to install on my PC, same for Sony Update Service. But as the phone doesn't even boot, I couldn't use that solution anyways?

Hi Didrik,

I have already shut down the phone at the very beginning, that's not the issue.

It's just that as soon as I restart it, it tries do proceed to factory reset and crashes again. No way to get past the Android bot.

Xperia Companion is not working. I can't install it on any workstation I have acces to here. Getting an installation error each time. Tried multiple fixes on dozens of forums to fic the companion that should fix the phone... Something wrong with .msi exe.

Same goes for SONY Update service and PC companion. Errors everywhere on multiple workstations. So I got no way to use it to try to fix my phone. I will try it out at home on my own workstation as I'm at work here.

I can see on forums the issue with Xperia Companion is pretty widespreat and doesn't seem to be fixed so far.

Any idea on how to fix the software that should fix my hardware? Y.Y

I know that some workplaces do not allow installing third party software. Have you checked with a network admin about this? I'd also recommend making sure that your antivirus or firewall isn't preventing Xperia Companion access to the internet.
