Hey Gambolt, I don't have an official answer but did you measure how many DPI were on the screen when you were on the homescreen as the Z5 Premium only uses it's actual resolution when you are in Sony's Album and Video apps while everything else is rendered in Full HD. This is just a guess, sorry that I don't know the actual answer but I hope this helps a little b.

Cpecifications for E6833 says that this device has a screen with resolution of 4K 2160 x 3840 pixels (~ 801 PPI pixel density). However,

DisplayMetrics metrics = new DisplayMetrics();
getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getMetrics(metrics);

metrics.density.Dpi returns a value DENSITY_XXHIGH corresponding to HD display, instead of DENSITY_XXXHIGH, corresponding to 4K display. Why so?

Hi. May be. But you mean that some Sony-applications can use 4K resolution. Meanwhile I want programmatically request physical resolution of 4K display. What for, this 4k display, if it can be used only by Sony applications? What can I do to verify that it is 4K? Maybe it's just words and a marketing ploy to be able to raise the price of the device. And real resolution - FullHD, because this can not be determined visually.

If I understand you correctly, you want the phone's resolution to always be in 4K? Unfortunately, even though that would be awesome, I don't think that's possible unless you root the phone. Overall, I believe Sony just wanted to be the first manufactor to be able to say, "We have the first phone with a" 4K display". The problem was that, unlike the G3 that had the world's first QHD display (I think?)the G3actually used it all the time, Sony didn't really say that the phone only used it for certain apps. I actually find it ironic that Sony was the first one who put a 4K display on a phone because when the Z3 came out, I read an article that they didn't put a QHD display on it because at that screen size, you couldn't tell the difference.
