Since upgrading to 32.2.A.0.224, my battery life on my phone has reduced significant. I've also noticed that my phone gets quite hot. Is it just me or is anyone else having the same issues?

Thanks

Yes, I have the same issue, the phone gets very hot and discharges quickly. Furthermore, I cannot make phone calls - if I open the "phone app", and enter a single digit, the app crashes. I have rebooted the phone, and it is useless.

Battery Drain since recent Z5 FW Upgrade

Has anyone else had problems with their battery since the update this weekend?

When I first upgraded from my bulletproof Z3c my shiny new Z5 battery was terrible... I did much research and found that doing a reset through a PC might fix it, which it did... So since then I've been getting 2 and 3 days use from a single charge....

Got an update notification this weekend so (stupidly) did it... Now the phone is back to how it was before!!

I've just done a backup, reset and restore with the companion and early indications are it's not made a difference! Anyone else having the same issues? or have any solutions to the problem? Resetting my phone again is also a tiresome task!!

Just wondering if Sony are reading this forum? I loved my Z3c also after much time wasted researching and working on it, was loving the Z5.... But, if I'm going to have big problems with every FW update I think it'll be time to go to a manufacturer with a more stable update programme!!

I'm now running the Sony Companion (on my Mac) to repair the device, hoping that this might solve the issue. So far it has been running for 45 minutes and the blue bar on the mac has moved maybe 10% or less. How long time is this supposed to take?

I too confirm that batery drain and heating increased a lot since I did that update. There might be another reason for that heating though, I moved to a much hotter climate (Cyprus) than the UK for summer holiday, but in addition to this, battery drain is worse as I said before so me changing countries shouldn't be the reason I'm having these issues.

Go into Safe Mode and try using it in that mode for extended period of time. If everything works well, that means nothing wrong with phone and it's native softwares. You'll need to next check all your downloaded apps to find out what is crashing the phone.

It's always good to come on to these forums for a chuckle when you've a bit of free time. Like I've said a million times these software updates are not fit for purpose. I've done a clean install of each version of marshmallow (yes Sony, that's three attempts at getting Marshmallow right you've botched so far), and each time the phone has become unusable due to restarts, freezing, overheating, battery drain, etc, etc, etc. I've a Z5 dual premium. Lollipop works fine. Here is the question that nobody at Sony will ever answer: why do our phones work on lollipop but not marshmallow? No my sim card isn't broken, no I don't use an sd card, it's a clean install so you can't blame downloaded apps. My phone works fine on lollipop so it's not a hardware issue. So again Sony, why can you not make a working version of Marshmallow? In all seriousness this is the behaviour of a company on the ropes for whatever reason. Either the mobile division is being phased out so they aren't investing in support anymore or the company is just in dire straits and can't afford to. One thing is clear. Product and customer support is shockingly bad and doesn't work. Stay on lollipop, don't waste your time on marshmallow until it works.

I have to say that all my upgrades have been fine. I have not experienced any issues like others have. It's just this one kills my battery - and it's highly annoying. An acknowledgment of the issue will be appreciated- 'cause then at least you know Sony is working on a solution.
