Z5 Compact, USB MTP doesn't work

Android used to be simple and easy to connect to a PC and then tranfer any file to any folder... but with my Z5 Compact this has turned into !!

the Phone is upgraded to latest patch ( Android 6.0.1, 32.2.A.0.0253 )

1. MTP is not default, meaning that connecting is always..

2. When connecting via USB to PC (Windows 7), the Drives overview just freeze and i get a poor connection. Mostly it just doesn't work.

3. When it finally connects, i can't send files to the SD-Card.. only to the internal memory !?

4. Usually the connection breaks while transfering files

What should i do to fix all this ?

Is it possible to test a different computer and cable?

I've already tested several computers and cables and the experience is the same across..
