If there was a way around it, it would not be a lock screen of any use.

You have back up turned on? If so....

However... have you tried http://www.google.com/android/devicemanager

the android device manager to change things via your google login ? The following might work from that screen (http://trendblog.net/how-to-bypass-android-phone-lock-screen-pattern-pin-password/)

In the ADM interface, select the device you need to unlock

Select ‘Lock’

In the appearing window, enter a temporary password. You don’t have to enter a recovery message. Now click ‘Lock’ again.

If successful, you should see a confirmation below the box with the buttons Ring, Lock and Erase.

On your phone you should now see a password field in which you should enter the temporary password. This should unlock your phone.

Now, before you go on with your life, go to your phone’s lock screen settings and disable the temporary password

I can't get into my phone, I am certain I have not changed the lock screen PIN but it is not being accepted. Vodaphone were most unhelpful simply saying it would need factory reset and wipe all data. How do I get into my phone and not loose all my data?
