Xperia 5 Camera Crashing

Hi all,

I just got my brand new Xperia 5 and right out the box it crashes when I use the camera. 50% of the time if I take a photo, the phone freezes for a few seconds and restarts. This even happened in safe mode. I've removed the SDCard I had but the problem still persists. There has been an update for Android but it's still a problem. I'm going for a factory reset but I'm not massively confident. Has anyone else seen this?

this exact issue happened to me today.

but i noticed there is similar issue reported with xperia 1

Try a forced reboot.

Push power and Vol-up simultaneously until the device vibrates.

See how it goes after the reboot.

I have Xperia 1 which hasn't shown any problems so far. Not with camera, not with anything else.

Wrong: the fingerprint scanner isn't functioning as it should. It's a random choice of it accepts the fingerprint.

No amount of Reboot is going to fix this, appears to be a HW issue.... Get in touch with Sony or your retailer, you should get a replacement or a refund

I'm having the same issue with my phone, pretty much making the camera unusable! Really disappointed with sony as I've always been a huge fan. Will this be getting fixed?

When your camera app keeps crashing you should consider a software repair.

Before you do so make backups.

Messenger apps have to be backed up from within the app itself.
