Missed calls notifyer

When I have missed calls I don't get any notifications, except the red arrow in the list of all calls. Googled and searched on this forum, the suggestions are either to install software or re-boot phone with some settings which I don't prefer. I just want an indication on the screen 😃

You should be able to see a notification icon (on the notification bar).

Yes! There it is! When you manually look for it!

But what I want to know is if I can change the settings somehow so the notification is prompted without me looking around for it.. All other phones I know of practically blow off if there are messages or, in this case, missed calls. I just find it strange that this one (xperia) barely bothers at all.
