Xperia Z3 Power button doesnt work!!

Hello, it is the first time i write in this forum, so hello everybody and thanks in advance for the help you will provide!

I have problems on the power button on my z3. It neither doesn't switch of / on the display, nor manage the start menu (switch off the phone, restart it, take a screenshot and so on)

If i press it it seems like physically something get pressed, even if my wife's z3 start button (which works) seems to have a bigger plays when it get pressed.

It used to work then suddenly it stop.

I am unsure if the problem is software or hardware, do you have some test to perform for double check this?

I use the double tap to wake up the display,so not big worries about it, but since i use to restart the Phone every couple of days i am now unable to do it. Is there a different way to restart the phone?

Hi @falsobuonista, I'm sorry to hear this.

I'm afraid that, based on your description, this appears to be hardware related and if that is the case your device needs to be sent to an authorised service center for repair. You can contact your Local support for further assistance if need be.

If you wish to confirm that this isn't software related you can perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will re-install the device's software completely so please make sure to also make a backup of your device to avoid losing any important data.

I'm personally not aware of an alternative to the power key when it comes to rebooting the device. You might be able to find an app in Google Play to can help you with this though.
