Z5 Compact GPC Accuracy

I'm trying to find out what the best possible GPS accuracy for the Z5 Compact (E5823) is on Nougat.

All of my previous Xperia phones (X10, X10mini pro, Z, Z3 Compact) provided 3m/~10ft of accuracy as displayed by several apps (custom ones included using android's getAccuracy()), but I recently bought a new Z5 Compact for testing and cannot get a better accuracy reading than 4.55m/14.9ft using the exact same applications.

The gps lock is achived quick enough (with or without data), it's just the accuracy that is troubling...

Could someone please confirm that it is not possible to get a better accuracy reading with the same phone and with Android 7.1.1? I'm trying to isolate the issue to either the phone or Android 7.1.1 running on the phone before I contact the support people...

I've tried all the so-called solutions for other GPS related issues, but none made any difference:

Factory Reset
Cache Partition Wipe
aGPS Reset
Played around with several settings in 'GPS Status' App
Left phone under clear/unobstructed sky for 20 minutes.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I'm starting to think it is a waste of money to buy the phone. The ~4m of travel makes a big difference while geofencing...
