Has anyone successfully connected an Xperia z3 to a tv via an mini usb to HDMI addapter ?

I understand the Z3 supports MHL so it should be possible.

Do you need an adapter from Sony ?

I had a Sony adapter and that worked with my old Xperia z2, unfortunately, lost by a client.

I tried a Samsung branded usb/hdmi addapter with the Xperia z2 and that didn't work.

However, I can't find a Sony usb/hdmi on their website anymore.

And why doesn't the Xperia z4 suport MHL ?

I bought a mhl / hdmi adapter years before on eBay. It works fine. It's not a Sony original.

For information, I've just tried mine with a Samsung adapter with no problem. However, it did not work until I connected a power supply into the adapter as well.
