Thanks for your reply. I booted into safe mode as you suggsted, then I suddenly got several "Unfortunately, *Some app* has stopped working" (or similar message), and this happened for system UI, setup wizard, home app. And then the phone randomly rebooted by itself back into normal mode, it then installed AR Effect, Xperia Keyboard, Vine, News by Sony, Socialife News and Smart Connect. And I tried the camera and now AR is working. Weird!

But it somehow made it work so thank you.

Hi,

I received my Xperia Z1 yesterday and I have updated it to the latest OS and updated all the apps. When I try to use the AR effect, it adds effects onto faces but it doesn't add effects onto surfaces. I have tried on multiple flat surfaces and I have also cleared the data on the AR effect app, does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks.
