I woke up this morning to find the screen on my Z2 to be very off colour with hundreds of horizontal lines consistently moving down the screen. I haven't damaged my phone in any way recently, so I've no idea why this is occuring.

I would put it down to a hardware defect, however when my phone locks itself and I go the unlock it, or if I leave it for a few minutes, the screen will be fine for a few seconds or so, until it gradually fades to a white, then pinkish colour with vertical lines, and then blueish white horizontal lines will begin to move down the phone until it becomes quite impossible to actually use it. I've also just noticed that the lines get much worse when I'm actually using my phone rather than just staring at it idly, so it must be touch triggered or something?

I've had this phone since around December after it replaced a lost one, and haven't had any issues so far. I would take it to the phone shop to get it repaired, but I know that will leave me without a phone for 1 - 2 weeks, which just isn't an option. I'd just like to know what the exact issue is before forking out £50 for a new screen.

I think developer options might be enabled. Go to settings-scroll down to dev options and disable them.

I've also done the repair via Sony Bridge (as that's what the Sony peope told me to do) and that hasn't helped. And I've replaced the whole screen today and that too hasn't done anything. 😕

That is strange. Have you had it replaced at a sony service or by yourself?

I did it myself (I'd had the phone repaired previously by a third party, so the warranty was already void). I'm no expert, but I do know how to successfully replace a phone screen.

The phone is insured with geeksquad, but I've found that they're much more keen to replace the phone completely - and get the excess fee - than attempt to repair anything that's not an iPhone.

I'll be sending it off to another third party to get diagnostics this weekend.

Thanks anyway!

Dear community, i get the same issue on my device. I was only able to fix it, if i wait a while and try to activate the cam by using the hardware button. If the Screen comes back to live, i was able to work again until next time the screen fades out with the lines..

If you find another fix, please tell us. I'm using my Phone for more than 4 years without any problems and will not buy a new one. I like my xperia Z2.. 😕

Maybe SONY guys have any idea about this issue?

Thanks for your Support..

Peter

Hello all I've the same problem.

It started the day I dropped my handbag, though I don't k ow if that's just coincidental.

At first the screen was flickering, I looked online and found that I provably had a virus called "stagefright", it was especially bad flickering when I was online with fb or what's app. Otherwise it was hardly noticeable.

Then after a week or so of this annoyance the thing calmed down and stopped totally I guess I got a software update and it sorted it.

Then 2 days after that I have the verticals lines and screen fading.

The vertical lines are mainly viewable when it's on the home screen (dark screen). When I bring up the icons or the net the lines disappear but the screen fades somewhat.

I have slight pixelation down the side but even when I screen shot this, it doesn't show up, it's very odd.

A screen shot shows a normal screen. 😕

Any one for any info on this, do I have to fork out for a new Lcd screen or is it a deeper hardware problem?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Sony should sort it, I really like this phone otherwise and it's obviously still popular, seeing the comments here!
