back camera stops working...black screen

i have had my z3 compact since feb this yr and upto about 3 weeks ago its been fine. Now the back camera has stopped working and just displays a black screen and sort of freezes. its driving me crackers!!i have cleared the camera cache. used the handsets factory reset and used the pcc with update engine with no joys.

If you already tried PC Companion to repair the software, then I guess you're left with no other option but to have your phone examined by Authorised Sony service center in your area. It most probably sounds like a hardware fault.

well i have just found out if i squeeze where the lense is the camera comes on quick....

So that confirms it's related to hardware.

If your phone's still under warranty, you should rather not wait and get it examined by Sony service center.

Squeezing the camera might worsen the problem eventually.

well, sent my handset off last week. its been returned today and they have sent me a brand new handset

I have this same problem right now.. Itsbeen a year an 3 months since I bought this phone. Never fell on the grounds and it looks still brand new.

How long does it take before iget my phone back if I send it to Sony center?

HI, I also have the same problem with the back camera not working (black). I took it to MCC In Bahrain who said they can't fix the problem and there is no other company/place that can. Any suggestions? I love the phone but hesitant to buy same should same problem occur. Plus advise.

HI, I've been referred to MCC In Bahrain but they couldn't help. No support listed for Bahrain on website...

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem. Just all of a sudden the front camera stays black and doesn't work no matter how often I restart or update the software. I've only had the phone for a bit over a year now. The problem is that I am traveling, and my phone is my camera!
I can't believe this is happening to such a new phone. Help please!

Hold down volume down and power button at the same time for about 10 seconds then restart your phone.should work well.
