Album App Problem??

I have downloaded movies from Video Unlimited but in album app it showing black icons . it doesnt show the movies picture. please help.

Please try this:

Main menu > Settings > Apps > All > Album > Clear Data.

Can you play the videos?

If so I think the album app take the first frame of the movie file and create a thumbnail. And the first frame usually is black in a movie.

Hi,

Same problem here, in Italy, with latest versions of album app on Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z, Z1 and Ultra.

Yes I can play videos, because it opens them in Movie app... and I understand your explanation about the first black frame... by the way previous versions of album app are used to display an album art for the movies.. like the movie poster, the one the movie is diplayed with on Video Unlimited, not a thumbnail.. it was nicer...

You can still do this: Main menu > Movies > Menu Button > Settings > Get Video Details.

Doesn't show some/many assets in My Albums> My SD Card. but only showing their thumbnails (images/videos), in my xperia z (album latest version 52A120).OS 4.2.2

Even if I changed the folder name, it still showing only thumbnails of its assets, not the files when I go in. Also, 1 moved one video inside this 'not showing' folder. This video is showing correctly, but not other files (yesterday the same were being shown).

Rebooting, Clearing data and cache not solving. I'm trying to find where does it store its cache in its folder structure? Any help?

I had the same problem before. I do this it help me . Hope to you guys too.

1) clear data at media storage(for all media). Setting->Apps->All->Media Storage.
2) reboot device for force it to rescan the media.
3) Album/Movie will back to normal, won't show thumbnail pic or misc video.
May take up some time.

I found this very solution in another thread (See here.) and it solved my problem. But be wary, for a few minutes, it seems that you've lost everything in internal and external memory.

Just an hour back, I thought, I've found a new way to delete the 'Media Storage'. I.e. I deleted internal memory> storage (or its subfolder named legacy/emulated).

BUT WHAT I DID! GOD! I DELETED/ERASED ALL MY EXTERNAL MEMORY CARD! SUCH A BLUNDER. NO WARNING, NOTHING! I GOT NO WARNING AND HAD JUST DELETED A SMALL FOLDER NAMED STORAGE (OR SOME OF ITS SUB FOLDERS NAMED LEGACY OR EMULATED). THAT'S ALL.

I NEVER THOUGHT ANDROID COULD DO THIS TO ME. IF IT WAS WINDOWS, IT WOULD HAVE WARNED ME 100S OF TIMES BEFORE TAKING SUCH A DRASTIC STEP.

Hi,

Im using a Xperia Z Ultra in Malaysia and i have this problem in my album.

A handful of my videos are only showing black screens and everytime i try to play it my phone jams and i have to restart it manually. This happened either after my latest update of software or latest update for the Album application from Sony.

Please fix this and a fed back would be appreciated.

If you transfer the videos to a secondary device such as a PC do the videos play without a problem?

Hi Sam, can you elaborate? I am happy to work with you to troubleshoot. I too am having the same issues with hang/lockscreen, album, movies right after the 4.3 update (never happened even once before this).

My issue with the album app/movie app started when i upgraded my firmware to 4.3 just a week ago.

I used to be very satisfied with the album and movie app with the previous firmware version. Everything was smooth, all the thumbnails show clearly and even with the animation, it has no problem at all. But when I upgraded my firmware, whenever I open a photo or a video (more on videos than photos) the phone just hangs and leaves a black display (dark dark gray). And btw, the thumbnails also has trouble showing.

This bug annoyed me that I was forced to reinstall the firmware through Sony PC Companion, after the update my phone went back to the factory settings (i was not able to back-up my latest contacts and calendar, which forces me to use my 2013 back-up) and these two apps performed better than the previous version 4.3. But definitely not better than the 4.2.2 firmware still.

Today, the update center prompted me that there's an album upgrade, then I quickly updated my album then the problem came back! I am not able to play even low-res videos, and it keeps hanging (asking me to WAIT, REPORT or CANCEL).

I tried doing the CLEAR DATE through the settings menu, and I also did try uninstalling the update, but this did not work for me.

Is there any patch or way that I can fix this issue?

I had recently updated album app from update center,now the album app is not displaying thumbnails of pictures and videos,and everytime I try to open the album app,my phone hangs out and doesn't respond for a while.I cleared album cache,media manager cache.but still the problem continues.Iam using xperia z with 4.3 jellybean

Hi, you have to clear defaults for the app that you have selected as always. So open settings > apps > tap the app you selected as editor > clear defaults.
