Okay, so I just got the Z5 for some days ago, and I've been very pleased with it. Altho, when the phone produces sounds it's vibrating unwillingly. If I raise the volume, I feel the vibration more and more. I find this annoying because if I wath a video or playing a game the phone is constantly vibrating if I chose to have sound on. Is this normal, or is it some kind of defect on my phone?

*Also, is it normal the phone goes extreamly hot by playing some games for just a couple of minutes?

@uliwooly

Oh, this process looks cumbersome. Are you sure it has something to do with the software? But to be clear, the phone isn't supposed to vibrate when making sounds?

Also, which is probably important to add, the vibration does not feel like the real vibration funktion on the phone (they feel completely different). The real funktion feels correkt and vibrates the whole phone (both edges and the whole back), while the problematic vibrations occur from the middle of the back (and stretches out to the edges) but not on the edges (which means when I hold the edges I do not, or just a little, feel that weird vibration).

Hope that made some sense (ask again if you don't understand or want more information). Can it be something wrong with the speakers? When I change the volume of how loud the ringtone should be (there is this sound preview, a short "bip" you know) it feels like there is a punch from inside the phone that wants out through the middle back. Feels very strange.

Nobody is experiencing this phenomenom? If you hold the phone in your hand, listening or watching something with atleast half the volume bar, you can feel the phone moving (kind of shaking or vibrating). Anyone? Or is the phone completly still and fixed with high volume (you can say that too so I know this is a problem)?

What should I do?

Recreate this? It seem to have been like this when I bought the phone (and I have not misstreated it in anyway, nor dropped or exposed it to water). As I mentioned I bought the phone less than a week ago, and after a few days, I just noticed how the phone was slightly "vibrating" when I listened to something, for example songs on spotify, sounds from youtube videos or just choosing the the ring signal.

I will try to explain the problem as informative as possible (sorry if incorrect grammar, english is not my native language). The (bad) vibration I feel from the sounds does not feel like the real vibration (good) meant for 'text messages'. It's completly two different vibrations and feel completely different. The (good) vibration vibrates the whole phone in a good way like it's supposed to be. The (bad) vibration feels like there's component inside the phone that's moving (which shouldn't) when producing noise. I don't know if that's is possible, but can the sound "leak" inside the phone, and there's soundwaves trying to esape the phones shell and therefore pushing the back of the phone? When I have low volume, I barely feel the (bad) vibration at all. But when I raise the volume, the (bad) vibration becomes greater and greater.

The PCC is probably a good try then, I will try it tommorow, since it's getting late, and see if it will solve the problem.

I appriciate your help.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with the issue, too bad we have it tho. Yeah, it feels like the speaker is vibrating against the back side panel, and with louder sounds it will vibrate more.

Have you done the PCC thing uliwooly mentioned?

My Z5P "vibrates" a tiny bit but I honestly just think it's the speakers. I also can only feel it when I'm squeezing the phone. I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary as it occured on my Z3 as well. Doubtful that restoring it will do something, but if it does do keep us updated!

So I took contact with the official Xperia Support in Sweden, and this is the chat (just took google translate).

Me: Why is vibrating when producing sound, bla bla bla...

(swedish)

Support: Det är inget fel, utan enheten har en tunn design och ljudvågor vid högre volym kommer att kännas av vid exempelvis baksidan.

Support: Tyvärr har jag ingen bra förklaring på exakt varför.

Me: Aha okej.

(english)

Support: There is nothing wrong, but the device has a thin design and sound waves at higher volumes will be felt for example in the back.
Support: Unfortunately I have no good explanation of exactly why.
Me: Ah okay. Thus all know Z5 owners these vibrations when they have sound on?
Support: There is like that in most models, regardless of brand.
Support: I can not answer for other brands but it is normal in Z5 at least.
Me: Okay, because I tested my dads new S6 Edge, and where I did not feel the vibrations like in the Z5. That's why I became pensive.

Support: As I said unfortunately I can not answer for other brands.

So that means every Z5-owner feels these vibrations when they listen to something on the phones speakers?

I can confirm that my Z5 also has a significant vibration of the (glass)back when playing (loud) music through the built-in speakers. And I suspect that this has a negative effekter on sound quality. But as I never listen to music through the speakers I can live with it.

/Reiche
