topic A1 V4 firmware update now WIFI/Bluetooth not working. in Alpha & NEX interchangeable lens cameras

I’ve owned my A1 for nearly 4 Years and have always updated the firmware when they became available, all with no problems. That has now changed with the latest V4 update, everything updated as normal just as in the past. Then I decided to pair my phone to the camera and as usual I needed to turn on the Bluetooth function on the camera, it’s then that my heart sank as the following message appeared….

“The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth unit has malfunctioned, cannot use the wireless network function.”

I was aware of this problem on earlier v2 updates but as I hadn’t had any previous problems, I thought I had missed this problem altogether. As my camera is out of warranty the estimated cost at fixation in the UK is approx. £850. I’ve tried all the possible fixes found on the forums to no avail; I just have to decide now whether to carry on using the camera without Wi-Fi or Bluetooth or stump up close to £1000 for repair.

It does wind me up that Sony issue these firmware updates without accepting any responsibility for any damage that is caused to its customers very expensive cameras.
