Battery replacement for NP_FH40

My first post.

I am loosing the will to live! I have a DCR SR32E Handycam. It's old and needs a new battery. It takes a NP-FH40.

Sony messaging help say the only recommend the exact replacement battery, they don't seem to have a helpful cross reference list to recommend another.

Sony website only offers the NP_FV50. Their supplier EET offers NP-FH50. I could buy the NP-FH50 but would it work.

I don't want a Chinese nock off fake or one that the camera doesn't recognise.

I would appreciate any advice

I wouldn't recommend using a battery other than the one recommended by Sony.

When it comes to power, it's better to follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Great advice Rose, however Sony tell me this battery is no longer available. Their supplier in the uk has a subsidiary business that can offer an alternative but I will be wailing another four weeks for delivery.

There are many batteries out there some of which will not work or be rubbish. At Sony prices I would have thought they could have maintained supply of the NP-FH40.

So much rubbish coming out of China these days. one of my favorites is 18650 li-on batteries with wild claims of 9000mah. Impossible.

I just hope my battery is ok when it finally arrives. Jeffo.

I totally get your point. I think sometimes they have to focus more on newer products and drop the support for the old ones.

Although I really love those handycams, I had one many years ago and it was the best.

Hi, I am currently having the same problem, did you reach a happy conclusion in the end, online all I can find is the FH50 but the battery I'm needing is the FH40 your advice would be greatly appreciated I love my little handycam none of these new ones would compare in my eyes. Thank you

I solved my problem not through Sony or its UK. supplier of replacement parts. After much research I went to Amazon. A9252 A9275 Powergiant 12v 2000mAH NMIH. This solved my problem.

did you manage to figure out if the FH50 worked for the camera or not. I am having a similar issue of not being about to find a FH40 replacement battery.
