A question for everyone reporting this problem. It may sound odd but there's a suggestion been made elsewhwere that this could be caused - or highlighted - by ISPs using some "unusual" filtering on their customers' lines. So...

What ISP are you with and is it "unbundled" or just a repackaged BT line?

I'm with TalkTalk - unbundled.

Well it seems that this is a recurring problem from what i have discovered from various sites, as my bbc iplayer has now failed to work saying no documents found, and it was working fine at tea time as my grandson was watching milkshake on it.

And as for the opera tv store that hasn't worked since i did a network upgrade when i bought the blue ray player 3 weeks ago, and don't get me started on SEN!

I have reset everyting and rebooted everything, and still nothing, i thought being a network engineer with 2 degrees in computing , this would be easy but no.

Evverything else works fine, demand 5, netfliks, lovefilm, crackle etc if i can't get this sorted then i'm afraid it's going back for an exchange and if it happens again i will be replaceing it with a different make i thought sony where a good brand they always used to b

COME ON SONY PULL YOUR FINGER OUT !!!!!

20/09/13 07:23 UK Time - Email sent to support - will post response if / when received.

Hi,

I received this device as a gift 2 months ago, it has the latest firmware installed and has been factory reset to try and resolve the issues already.

1. Opera Apps

On the specification page on your web site it states that Opera Apps are not supported and when I try accessing it a message is displayed showing 'not supported' however within community.sony.co.uk many users state they have been using Opera Apps on this device and when they have started receiving this message they believe the device to be broken. Should I be able to access Opera Apps ?

2. iPlayer

Untill 2 days ago this worked perfectly. Now it shows a no documents found error and then a page cannot be found web page error. Demand 5 works so the internet connection is not at fault. Within community.sony.co.uk it seems I am not the only person to experience this.
How can I fix this ?

3. ITV Player.

Will itv-player ever be supported on this device or has my wife bought me an out of date/no longer supported device ?

Thanks for your time.

Same thing here.

BDP S1100 (provided by Lovefilm to replace an LG one that will lose the LF app in October)

Received an OTA update last week and since then, have been unable to access BBC iplayer or BBC News.

I have tried resetting the box and leaving it unplugged over night etc.

(I can also confirm what others have said - half the apps on this thing don't work anyway - can't even connect to operaTV or Accuweather)

I've had the same problem since Thursday 19th September. As your customer servcie reprentative failed to spot that the BDP-S1100 only supports wired network connections, I'm not entirely surprised to find that the remainder of the advice you were given has done nothing to resolve our problems. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my network link, according to the iPlayer speed test is , at >5100 kbps, fast enough for full HD, but that's about all I learnt from this exercise.

I believe I also logged a support call last night, but have receoved no confirmation of the call, so I'm not so sure.

I wonder if we can use wireshark to trap the packets our devices are trying to send, then decode the URL to prove my hypothesis that the BDP is trying to contact a non-existent resource? Perhaps then Sony will take our reports seriously, as so far it seems incapable to take a box from stock, plug it in, and give it a go themselves...

Have now emailed sony support to report this as a faulty box. If they get enough people demanding repairs or replacements, they might just come out of hiding and explain what's going on.

i purchase the BDP S5100 blue ray player, 4 weeks ago, up until a few days ago, BBC i player was working. I like numerous others on here are getting the same message . I contacted sony support, and spoke to a guy called Amer. He talked me through changing a few settings to see if we could get BBC I PLAYER up and running, however after half an hour on the phone. There was no change, so it is basically left to sony and the BBC to sort this mess out. I cannot believe that even on previous models, since 2010, that there is still the same reoccurring issue . I for one WILL NEVER purchase another SONY product. like other customers, I purchased the sony player, so as to use the BBC i PLAYER.. i FEEL I HAVE WASTED £120.00. i shall now have to go and replace another blue ray player, from a differnt manufacturer,. as it seems to me this problem only occurs with Sony's products.
