BBC Sounds has annoying beep every few seconds

Since buying my Xperia 1 V1 I have been unable to enjoy listening to BBC Sounds.  This is because with this Sony phone but not Samsung ones there is an annoying beep every three seconds making it unlistenable. Can someone confirm that this is what happens with all 1 V1 phones?  Does Sony have a a legal issue with the BBC?

1. Check Permissions: Settings > Apps > BBC Sounds > Permissions.
2. Clear Cache: Settings > Apps > BBC Sounds > Storage > Clear cache.
3. Update/Reinstall App: Ensure the app is updated or reinstall it.
4. System Update: Settings > System > Software update.
5. Test Headphones: Try different headphones.
6. Safe Mode: Boot in safe mode to check for third-party app interference.
