Android 9.0 automatic update

Hi,

In an attempt to get timeshift to work, I have discovered that there is a major upgrade from Android 8.0 to 9.0 for the XG9005. This was released in January 2020 and reading the blurb the update should have been rolled out in stages "over the coming weeks". 12 months later and I haven't had it. Automatic updates are on (I had a security patch not long ago).

The new firmware update will be rolling out gradually to all Internet-connected TVs over the weeks following its release.

Any ideas why my TV hasn't received it?

I had to update mine via USB, which didn’t go flawlessly. 
I eventually did it and it seems ok.

there is a firmware upgrade which has a lower number but includes the ability to have Apple TV+ on it maybe try that.

for some reason Sony hates this TV & has rather abandoned giving it anything useful.

lower spec models from the same year and previous have a much wider range of features.

I do fear Sony conned me into buying this TV with their overhyped reviews.

Something bad happened with this particular TV & I fear everyone who has it may have been “mid-sold”
