Sony KD-49X8307C Using USB Ports for LED lights? Android...

Hi,

Our KD-49X8307C has 2 USB 2.0 ports and a USB 3.0 port, great! So I thought I could connect some LED strip lights to the back... alas nope.

These USB ports stay powered on, even when the TV is off... even after a period of time. I cannot find any configurable options in the menus either. The software is up to date...

Anyone figured out how to power off / power down any of the USB ports at all?

I have got a intelligent TV power down plug that does kill all power to the TV when off, but then it takes an age to get the TV to power back each time. We know how much we like to watch that Android logo slowwwly load each time! 🙄

Any help / tips welcome!?

Thanks

Hi itchytrig,

The USB ports are powered when the TV is active - even in standby.

Usually when you switch off the TV it completes some tasks in the background. This can last up to 2 hours.

After this the TV falls into deep standby but wakes up every 15-20 minutes to check for updates.

So your LEDs will light-up every time the TV checks for updates or runs background tasks.

Unfortunately this cannot be disabled.

Cheers

Peter
