BACKFOCUSING PROCEDURE ON AN EX-3
Could anyone advise me whether it is necessary to repeat the backfocusing procedure in both Position 1 and Position 2 of the ND filter switch in addition to the 'zero' position on an EX-3? Thanks, Peter R. Owen

Hi petowen18
Nothing in the Manual says repeating the focus will be needed, but I'd say it depends on the situation. If your subject remains in focus, you won't need to re-focus.
You can find the Manual here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4183/41838561M.pdf

Many thanks for your response. Despite consulting the manual no reference is made to backfocus on settings one and two of the ND filter. I have seen reference somewhere regarding backfocusing the ND filter settings, but I can't remember where - I wish now, I had made a note of the location! Your solution sounds logical so that's what I'll do. Thanks for the advice.
Regards, Peter Owen

I may be looking too far into it here, but I'm under the impression you're referring to the PMW-EX3 as opposed to the NEX-3. If I somehow managed to guess that correctly, since both are different cameras -the former being a Sony Professional one- there's a different manual for it on the Sony Pro website here: https://pro.sony/en_NZ/support-resources/pmw-ex3/manual
Hope this helps,
J.D.
