HDR-CX760E Where's 24p mode?

Hi everyone! While I was looking through this handycam's specifications on sony's site, I came across the line wich said that this camera can shoot videos in 60p and 24p which is pretty cool. Today I got my new HDR-CX760E. But when I checked it's frame rate settings, I saw that I have 3 options available wich are 50i, 50p and 25p. But where's that 24p mode?

Hi X-RUST, welcome to the Sony Forums

You were probably looking at the US specifications, which are 60p/24p to comply with NTSC video standards. European models are PAL by default, hence 50p/25p.

Cheers

Mick

Thanks for reply, but now I'm sad :smileysad:. I always wanted a camera shooting videos in 24p. So, if I live in Europe, that means there's no possibility for me to buy NTSC camera? Anyway, I'm not shure I can get my money back :smileysad:. 24p was the main feature that forced me to buy that camera.

Hello X-RUST

The possibility/process for getting a refund from the original vendor will depend upon the store - I would suggest getting in touch if you definitely want to be refunded.

For people living in Europe, there is always the possibility of buying the camera via mail order from an American store i.e. over the internet. There may be tax implications involved i.e. import duty when the goods arrive at customs in your local country but this may still be worth investigating. Also, you will need to make sure that you have the relevant power adapter so that you can charge the battery and run the camera.

Thanks,

Simon

Thanks, I'll see what I can do. By the way, do you know how to clean 760's lens? I mean, even if I have special cleaning equipment and turned active stabilization off, is it safe to clean that moving lens?

Hello again

Are you talking about cleaning the outside of the glass? If so, the best way to do this is to use a soft dry cloth like the type that you would use to clean a pair of spectacles. Any kind of lens cleaning beyond this i.e. internal cleaning which would require the camera to be taken apart is not something that I would recommend without taking it to a professional repair centre.

Thanks,

Simon

This question is about that active stabilization. If I shake the camera when it's off, I can feel like something is rolling inside it! Is it a distinctive feature of the 760 (that floating lens) model or I have a broken camera? At least it works fine

Hello again

A little movement within the lens shouldn't be anything to worry about (you say that the camera is still working OK) but you may wish to contact customer services at Sony to find out more if you find that this movement gets worse i.e. if you suspect that there is a loose component within the camera.

Thanks,

Simon
