Hi I would appreciate any advice, users might be able to offer regarding the contemporary handycams available. Having no familiarity with these I am confused by the range of similarly coded products (e.g HDR-XR520ve, XR505ve, XR550ve, I think others show CV instead of XR) often when doing online price comparisons I find a particular model code fetches up a different, similarly coded product as though the search engine is also confused lol. I think Im slowly getting to grips with some of their variations such as memory storage, presence or absence of viewfinder etc.
Currently I use a DCR-SC100E which I inherited and must be about 10 years old.My sole use is for recording my piano playing usually with the camera pointing to the piano keyboard at close range, i.e so that a clear wide angle recording is necessary. I use a high quality Sony microphone that was from a professional walkman cassette recorder rather than the camera's built in microphone I have recently updated my television and components so that I now have A Sony bravia tv and Panasonic DVD recorder and am wondering which of the available handycams would allow me to make high quality audio and visual recordings so that I can transfer the results onto DVD?
The handycams I have been looking at include the HDR -XR520ve and the slightly different, similar models but would be most grateful for any advice that might help me decide.
