ereader PRS 650

I have just purchased the ereader prs 650 and when connecting to the PC it seems to only want toe charge the battery although the battery is fully charged. It will not connect to the ereader software that I have downloaded from SONY. I have the device lock set to off I connect to the pc via the USB on the front panel in the correct order. The reader has had the memory formatted again and the settings re inserted and I would have asked sony experts for advice but apparently according to this web site the PRS 650 does'tn exist! An answer would be appreciated if only from a sony expert from another discipline

Sorry to read you are having difficulties, could you please advise the following;

When you connect the PRS-650 to your Computer, what happens, do you get any windows open, any tone from speakers, if you look at My Computer do you get 4 additional drives letters appear.

Once i have this information i can advise further.

I have exactly the same problem - the system information in the control panel of windows Xp shows the book reader and the individual hard drives - the library software does not show the reader.  It did show it once - but after it was restared it failed to show it any more.

I have unloaded and reloaded the software - rest the book reader and there is no change

I do get the tones when the reader is connected -
